May 26, 2026 - Luxury real estate mogul and reality television star Mauricio Umansky did not hold back during a recent interview, warning that Los Angeles is in serious trouble. Speaking with commentator Tomi Lahren, Umansky addressed the escalating crime in Beverly Hills, the state's worsening housing crisis, and the steady exodus of Hollywood productions from the city.
Umansky, known for his work on "Buying Beverly Hills" and as the founder of The Agency, said the city needs common-sense leadership rather than ideological posturing. He pointed to empty storefronts on Rodeo Drive and rising theft as signs that the local government has lost control. "This is not going to be politically correct," he stated, arguing that residents and business owners are tired of policies that prioritize optics over public safety.
The housing market, he added, remains a nightmare for middle-class families. Strict zoning laws and high construction costs have made it nearly impossible for young professionals to buy homes. Meanwhile, wealthy buyers are still willing to pay top dollar, but many are now looking at Miami, Austin, or Nashville instead.
Umansky also noted that the entertainment industry is pulling out of Los Angeles at an alarming rate. Production companies are moving to states with better tax incentives and fewer regulations. He warned that if the city does not change course, it will lose its status as a global cultural capital. "We need leaders who actually live here and feel the pain," he said.
