A new bachelor's degree in Real Estate at the University of North Dakota is being hailed as a first-of-its-kind public program for the region. According to UND President Andrew Armacost and Professor Prodosh Simlai, no other public university in either North Dakota or Minnesota currently offers a similar dedicated degree.
The program aims to address a growing demand for trained professionals in the real estate sector. In a recent video discussion, President Armacost highlighted the practical need for the degree, noting that the industry requires a specialized workforce that understands market analysis, property development, and financial management.
Professor Simlai, who helped develop the curriculum, explained that the degree will provide students with a comprehensive foundation. Coursework will cover topics such as real estate law, investment strategies, and urban planning. The goal is to prepare graduates for careers in commercial and residential real estate, as well as related fields like property management and appraisal.
The university sees this as a strategic move to support economic growth across the state and the broader region. By offering this program, UND hopes to keep local talent in the area and attract students from neighboring states who currently have no public option for a real estate degree. The first cohort of students is expected to begin classes soon, with university leaders expressing confidence that the program will quickly become a valuable asset for the region's workforce.
